Common mistakes and how to help
Followed the pattern where it doesn't work, as in "fiveteen" or "twoteen". Eleven, twelve, thirteen and fifteen are the odd ones out.
Try this: Write the teens in a list and colour in the odd ones out. Say them together a few times a week.
The right number, spelt the way it sounds, as in "sevun" or "eiteen".
Try this: Look, say, cover, write, check: look at the word, say it, cover it, write it, then uncover it to check.
Wrote a different number's word: they may not match the word to the number yet.
Try this: Read the number together first, then say the word slowly before writing it.
